The Franklin County Women’s Shelter provides shelter and services to homeless women and children in Franklin County and surrounding communities. The Shelter also provides services to community members who are at-risk of homelessness. We operate a transitional living center (TLC) that houses 7 women at a time each of whom can stay up to one year. We assess each woman’s situation and develop goals and objectives to help her move towards self sufficiency. We administer an emergency housing program through two 30-day shelter beds and short-term hotel stays for women. We provide individualized case management to each woman in emergency or transitional housing. FCWS provided shelter and services to approximately 80 women and 8 children over the past year. The Shelter knows that help isn’t only needed during regular office house, so the Shelter operates the community’s only 24 hour information and referral hotline. In the past year, over 283 community members called the hotline and received assistance in one form or the other. The demand for our services as well as referrals to other community agencies continues to increase each year. Many of the calls require fairly intensive case management in order to meet the needs of the individual. We strive to meet the needs of every person we interface with.![]() |
